Kate Cohen Mrs. Pennsylvania United States 2009 Kate Cohen is grateful for this opportunity to represent the Keystone State. She is a Summa cum Laude graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a BA in Music. As a voice teacher, Kate instructs singers of all ages and abilities in proper technique, building a challenging repertoire, and performing with confidence. Through her platform, Arts for a Strong Community, Kate presents the social and economic benefits of supporting community arts organizations. Kate has a long history of service to the community, beginning at the age of six with her backyard benefit concert, “Kid Aid”. She has helped build nine houses with Habitat for Humanity, worked with the poor in rural Mexico, fed the homeless through street outreach, raised over $200,000 for the United Way, and has received commendations from both the Philadelphia County Assistance Office and the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare for her Welfare to Work volunteer efforts. Kate and her husband Jonathan enjoy traveling, hosting dinner parties, caring for their rescue dogs, and spending time on the beach reading books and waiting for the ice cream man to come along.
