Tessa Heard
Mrs. Mississippi United States 2009 Tessa Heard, Mrs. Mississippi United States, is committed to family, career and community. Tessa and her husband Jon enjoy traveling, working out, NASCAR, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and taking care of their blind dog, mischievous cat and sparrow (an abandoned fledgling Tessa saved). Despite dyslexia, Tessa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Executive MBA. Tessa holds the unique distinction of being the 1st female design lead for an 80-year-old aviation company. For the last 6.5 years Tessa has been a Manager in Technical Services. Partnering with RAINN’s Speakers Bureau, Tessa empowers victims of sexual assault to know healing is possible. An advocate of America’s Promise Alliance, Tessa has spoken to thousands of students about the importance of staying in school. Tessa is a spokesperson helping raise monies for many charitable causes and enjoys serving meals and scrubbing the floor at the Lord’s Diner soup kitchen.
