Mrs. Hawaii United States Shanmarie Pohaikealoha Alferez is honored to represent her Beautiful Aloha state of Hawai''i. Born and raised on the island of Oahu this Hawaiian native accomplished her goals graduating with a bachelors in Speech Pathology/Audiology from the University of Hawai''i and her masters in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University Honolulu. Shan is excited to further her education and work towards her doctoral degree in clinical psychology to better serve her community island wide. Currently, Shan works as a Intensive In Home therapist for Hale Kipa where she services youth with mental health disorders.

Thanks to her faith Shanmarie has been blessed with her Husband Paul and their two sons Ryan (11) and Davi (4). Together they love to travel, play in nature, attend sports events, and give back to their community. Shan''s platform is suicide prevention for youth and created the "Hope Project." Shan wants to create awareness, education and resources for youth, families and professionals in need with the focus being alternative coping skills through sports, health and wellness activities. Shan also supervised an Emergency shelter for adolescents for the past two years and is determine to continue helping youth and families!
