Laurett grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the third of eleven children and has five children of her own, ranging from age 20 to age 7. She has lived in four different countries and now resides in Springfield, VA with her family. Laurett is the program director for a Business News Program on ABC, WJLA in Washington, DC.

Laurett is no stranger to success and leadership. As a youth, she led her High School Drill team to the State Championship. While a Banquet Manager, in 1983, Doubletree Hotels awarded her «Manager of the Quarterˇ after working with the company for only 18 months. Soon afterwards, her family was asked to fulfill a diplomatic assignment to the United Arab Emirates. While in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador David Mack commissioned her to organize and lead the Independence Day Celebration, where upwards of fifty Heads of States and hundreds of Americans and expatriates attended. She also gave birth to her third son in Abu Dhabi.

Laurett has trained Groups and Individuals all over the world. On assignment to Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv, Israel, she taught school, and after the first year, she was appointed Director. Although all the other teachers had been there longer, the School Board saw the natural devotion to the position and love for the children that Laurett enthusiastically exuded. Highlights of her years in Israel include facilitating the STEP Program, (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting), presenting the Gregors Learning Styles workshop at the American Embassy, and giving birth to her forth son.

When the family with four young boys moved to Mexico City, Laurett used her formal training as a Color Me Beautiful Image Consultant to work from home. She also took the kids to Utah and continued attending Brigham Young University during the summers to advance towards her Degree in Organizational Psychology.

Since moving back to the United States, Laurett has taught and motivated thousands, including Presidents & CEOs, working women, Mothers, and Military officers in the areas of health, sales, image, personal development, parenting, and coping with change. As Mrs. Virginia and then Mrs. USA 1997-98, she traveled nationwide and spoke to groups of thousands, often receiving standing ovations. Laurett is also an ATM-Bronze Toastmaster and was recently elected president of her thriving club, which grew from 20 to 45 members while she was in charge of PR. Part of her success is in her ability to connect with audiences of all ages by using her personal life and work experiences. The other part is in «Walking Her Talk.ˇ

Laurett has often been referred to as A Breath of Fresh Airˇ and says, when asked, how do you do it all? ŔI decide what is important, I devote my time to that which I love, I learn from my mistakes, and I Press Forward with a positive attitude. And have I told you yet that I love being a Mom and Iˇm Crazy about my Kids!
