Samantha Reinecke

2018 Mrs. United States

Samantha has been married to her husband, Shawn, for eleven years. She is a special education teacher and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree. Shawn is a MSgt in the USAF Reserves, and a lieutenant at the Chanute Fire Department. They have four children: Layla (10), Knox (6) and twins Jude and Lilliana (5).

After severe, life-threatening complications in the labor and delivery of their first child, Shawn and Samantha were uncertain if they would be able to conceive further children. After two years of secondary infertility, the couple adopted their oldest son. Just five days before his birth, the Reinecke's got a positive pregnancy test. Elated by the possibility of welcoming two babies into their home within the same year, Shawn and Samantha went to their first prenatal appointment just weeks after brining their newborn son home; they learned that they were pregnant with twins! Their family grew from one child to four in just eight short months.

The Reinecke's have since used their knowledge and experience with the adoption process to advocate for adoptive families and children through their platform, Home Sweet Home: Advocating the Power of Adoption. They have partnered with the Nebraska Children’s Home Society, which is proudly celebrating 125 years of putting children first, and providing adoption services at no cost to adoptive families in the state of Nebraska. Their goal is to continue to advocate for waiting families and children until every child is Home Sweet Home.
