2018 Ms. Woman United States
Melody is an Arizona native and works as a Customer Care Coordinator at Roofstar Arizona, Inc., a roofing company founded by her father. She is also passionate about stories, and has channeled that passion into being an actress with the philosophy that whether onstage or off, all of life is an opportunity to craft one’s personal story and to share the stories of others. As an Associate Artist with the Southwest Shakespeare Company, she has been performing professionally in the Phoenix area for over five years. With a platform of Advocacy and Service of Children in Foster Care, Melody has been serving Arizona’s foster children for thirteen years. She began volunteering as a Counselor at Royal Family Kids Camp, which focuses on helping children in foster care create positive memories. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Intercultural Studies from Biola University. Her educational background enabled her to understand foster children as their own subculture and to work successfully as a Life Skills Coach in the Behavioral Health Field. She established a community advocacy campaign entitled Fighting for Their Future, which educates the community on issues related to foster care, as well as opportunities for groups and individuals to join the fight for the future of children in the foster care system. As Ms. Woman United States, she has a vision for expanding her advocacy campaign nationwide. In addition to her platform, Melody firmly believes in (and models!) Fearless Femininity, and hopes to inspire women across the country to embrace both their strong and their feminine sides.
